In 1944 the Blue Jackets manual IMO contained "The General Prudence Rule" that in essence said: Regardless of possible violation of existing rules "actions taken to "save the ship" exercised prudently can override any existing instruction.
I am unable to find mention of such
in my inquiries. Is it still in effect ?
